Educational Studies is about what we can understand about how people develop and learn throughout their lives. This understanding can help us to design more effective education systems and more effective lessons that result in positive learning outcomes for all students. Through Educational Studies, student teachers will be introduced to foundational education theories and will, eventually, be able to apply these concepts to their own teaching and learning.

Mathematics is the exploration and use of patterns and relationships in quantities, space
and time. Mathematics equips students with effective means for investigating, explaining
and making sense of the world in which they live. Furthermore, mathematical problem-solving ability lies at the heart of Mathematics and helps students tackle the problems in
their lives with confidence.

Science is the collective term we use to refer to the collection of evidence through
observations to improve our knowledge and understanding of the universe and everything
within it. This collection of evidence is carried out by what are known as experiments and
it is through experimentation that scientists can provide evidence or proof to support an
understanding of why things happen.

This course introduces the subject of Myanmar traditional Arts and explains the importance of
teaching traditional Performing Arts (Music and Dance) and Visual Arts (Drawing and
Painting) to students at Primary School level. By introducing you to the subjects that make
up the Art syllabus, and encouraging you to explore the history and traditions that this
subject encapsulates, you will be well prepared to share your knowledge and interest in this
important and relevant subject. While Myanmar Arts are very much influenced and closely
connected to the history of Myanmar, they are also inextricably linked to, and have an
important role to play for the future of Myanmar.

The Practicum module is what makes the degree you are studying a professional degree. A
professional degree qualifies you to work in a certain profession.
This means that not just anyone can be a teacher. You need to acquire both the
knowledge and skills necessary for the profession before becoming a qualified teacher.
Doctors or surgeons would not be allowed to operate on someone without having practised
and received their licence. Lawyers would not be allowed to prosecute or defend someone
without having studied, practised, and received their professional licence. In the same
way, teachers need to first study and practise their craft before beginning their teaching
career as a qualified teacher.
